With our Santa Specials & New Years running out of the way,
The volunteers & staff here at the CCLR have been busy working on many projects we have had throughout the winter period before our daily running season begins this month!

Trackwork:
Right off the bat, our P-Way team got to work with lifting the track from near our Viaduct to Discovery Halt, preparing to re align the track and and move us away from the fence. With some help from a team of chaps from the Scarborough North Bay Railway, the job was completed in time for Halfterm running.

Canopy Refurbishment:
Around the same time, refurbishment work began on our canopy at Lakeside Station. the old pieces were removed and the frame work was cleaned down and repainted. After painting the framework, the team then moved onto cutting the new pieces and began adding the primer coats. once that was completed, they began to paint them in a lovely Ivory colour to go with the railway's colours. Stage one has been completed but keep an eye out over the season to see the next stages of the work!

A Visitor From Scarborough:
Since the beginning of January, the Luggage Shed Lounge has been the home for one of the lovely locomotives from our sister railway, Scarborough North Bay Railway. Poseidon came to us for some work to be done on her since there isnt much space in the sheds in scarborough. this was the first time Poseidon has been back to cleethorpes in almost 20 years. the work has recently been finished off and she is leaving us this week to head back home to be reunited with Neptune, Triton & Robin Hood!

No.24 Overhaul Update:
In other news, we are excited to say that No.24 is almost ready to come home to Cleethorpes!
Since leaving us a few years ago to go to John Fowlers of leeds in Bouth, a lot of work has been done to the locomotive such as fitting new wheels and axles under the tender, new axel driven compressor on one of the driving axles & so much more. she passed her boiler test with flying colours and we were very lucky to be sent some footage of her running on air. However, our favourite bit of news is that she has recently visited the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway to run her in a bit to check that everything is okay with the locomotive. We are pleased to say she did extremely well and has since returned to John Fowlers for the final touches and a new coat of paint before coming home!
